Milk Bar City Center Dc

Last summer, the building I interned in looked over which was at that point it just was a bunch of “now hiring”, and “coming soon” signs that is now called City Center. Long Champ, Gucci, and Louis Vitton stores all seemed cool but I was most excited for the opening of Momofuku and Milk Bar. My coworker and I would look at Milk Bar’s menu and talk about what we would get when it opened. Unfortunately, the internship ended before we could go together but I always kept it on my list of places to visit. Almost a year later, I have finally fufilled my goal!

I ordered the standard cereal soft serve and added sprinkles. I was disappointed that corn flakes was the only cereal option to top the ice cream. Seriously who likes corn flakes??? I was anticipating more of a Kith cereal bar situation with more options but I still wanted to try it so I ordered. It came in a tiny white branded cup with ice cream literally spilling over the sides.

So here comes my unpopular opinion: it wasn’t good. I didn’t even eat half. The corn flakes were gross like I anticipated and the actual soft serve wasn’t good either. I can’t put my finger on what was wrong with it but one thing for sure was that it wasn’t sweet. It tasted like literal milk. I hate milk. I love ice cream, frozen yogurt, and soft serve so I’m not sure what happened here.

All in all I haven’t totally counted out Milk Bar. Though I didn’t like the soft serve I still am willing to go back to try their other offering like the cookies and milkshakes. Everything else on the menu had way more flavor options and variety. Plus the outside patio area around Milk Bar is the perfect place to hang out on a book and good company.

Have you been to Milk Bar? What’d you think?
